Registration Opens for Online Course: “Stewardship In Scripture”

Registration is open for a new online course: “Stewardship In Scripture” taught by Rev. Bruce Barkhauer, Minister for Faith and Giving for Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). “Stewardship and Scripture” features four video lessons and assignments that students can view online and complete at their convenience, and participate in three live class-wide conference calls.

Registration is now open for the online course Stewardship in Scripture that begins September 5. Stewardship in Scripture is jointly offered by the Ecumenical Stewardship Center (ESC) and transformingthechurch.org. Rev. Bruce Barkhauer, Minister of Faith and Giving for the Center for Faith and Giving of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), is the instructor. Stewardship in Scripture features four video lessons that students can view at their convenience, and three live conference calls on September 15, 22, and 29.

With the understanding that stewardship encompasses more than money, Stewardship in Scripture students will gain a rich and diverse understanding of biblical stewardship principles. Topics include theology of abundance, the importance of generosity, stewardship as transformation, stewardship of the Gospel, and more. 0.7 CEUs are available.

Stewardship and Scripture is one of the courses in the Steward Leaders Engaging God’s Mission online course series offered by the Ecumenical Stewardship Center and transformingthechurch.org. Students enrolled in Steward Leaders Engaging God’s Mission courses will learn principles and practices relating to stewardship and leadership through studying Scripture, exploring holistic perspectives, critiquing culture, developing healthy relationships, and achieving financial health.

Rev. Bruce A. Barkhauer is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). For twenty-five years, he has led congregations in Ohio and Indiana in achieving high levels of financial support for local and global missions and he now shares his experience across the life of the whole church. Rev. Barkhauer is a graduate of Ohio University, Christian Theological Seminary, and did Doctor of Ministry studies at Ashland Theological Seminary.
