Suggestions for Getting Ready To Use Your Virtual Classroom

Thank you for registering for "Cultivating Perennial Churches: Guide to Long-Term Growth" with Bob Dale. The Virtual Classroom for is now open and ready for use.

Class will start in two weeks on April 24th when we have the first live class session. Until then, please use this period before the first live session to get ready for the class. I can suggest a few things you can do to do to get your class off to a good start:

  1. Enter the Virtual Classroom and get familiar with logging in and out. Click here to log into the classroom. The username/password you used to register will be required.
  2. Browse the features and functions of the Virtual Classroom and become comfortable with navigating from page to page (a) via the buttons in the sidebar on the right-hand side of the pages in the classroom and (b) via the primary navigation under the masthead above.
  3. Order the course textbook (see below) and begin your reading. For you convenience, you can order the textbook via the Class Bookstore found in the Virtual Classroom.
  4. Post your contact details and a photo to the Class Roster page.
  5. Introduce yourself to the rest of the class in via the thread provided in the Class Forum.
  6. Watch the first video-on-demand session and be prepared to discuss its content and ask questions in the first live conference call on April 24th.
  7. Review the instructions for dialing into our audio conference bridge for our first live call on April 24th. For details, see the "Live Conference Calls" button in the sidebar on the right-hand side of the pages in the classroom.
  8. Start any early discussions (perhaps from your reading) you wish in the Class Forum. Open a new thread on a new topic if you wish or comment on any of the currently open threads.

This course is based on Bob's book of the same name from Chalice Press which will be used as the course textbook. If you have not yet purchased the book, you can order it from the Class Bookstore in the Virtual Classroom for delivery directly from Chalice Press.

Cultivating Perennial Churches: Guide to Long-Term Growth

This course explores the reasons some churches grow perennially—season after season—while most churches don't. It will identify seven principles for perennial strength. Follow the exciting and informative histories of seven perennial congregations. Learn the theology and practices that undergird perennial health and growth. Understand how perennial leaders create root systems to sustain long-term vitality in congregations.

About This Course

This course is entirely online; no travel is required and all you need to participate is an web browser and a suitable broadband Internet connection.

The course is conducted over a period of six weeks. In this period, each student will watch the week's video-on-demand lecture and then meet together via a live interactive conference call to discuss the week's assignment with Bob and other members of the class as well as ask any questions you might have.
